The lawfirm of Kern, Augustine, Conroy & Schoppmann, P.C., who have represented the Westchester Medical Society sent us this Medicare Finance Alert It appears that Medicare has launched a national program utilizing outside collection agencies to get money back from hospitals and physicians. The program will use sophisticated computer analysis and chart reviews, and hopes to bring in vast amounts of money. An attempt to look at the website of the company responsible for New York, brought up a Google alert that the website may damage your computer, along with some scam reports about the company’s practices. In their pilot program, 70% of appeals of their decisions were denied. Fasten your seatbelts, here we go!
