APA Board Saves Assembly Budget
Wednesday, January 20th, 2010Letter to the Blog Editor from James Nininger, MD, Area II Trustee:
“I wanted to thank you for your letter of concern regarding the APA Assembly budget of 2010. As you know, the Board approved a budget at the December meeting that did not require a further reduction beyond the original $200,000.”
This means that the Assembly will continue to function while shouldering its share of necessary cuts. Democracy works!

APA Board Threatens Assembly: Call for Action
Saturday, November 14th, 2009It’s 1775 again. Taxation without representation. The APA Board is considering a proposal to cut the Assembly budget by 45% or $400,000. This could leave all the APA power in the hands of the elite and insulated Board of Directors, and cripple the ability of the membership to influence policy. Now is the time to email all the Board Members before they vote in a policy that could disenfranchise the membership. Go to BOARD for a block of email addresses of board members.
Tina Strobos, MD Featured in NY Times
Monday, October 19th, 2009Our own Tina Strobos, MD was featured on October 17 in the New York Times Rye Report. The article highlights her story as a teen in Amsterdam helping Jews escape the Gestapo.
“Why would she take such gambles for people she sometimes barely knew? ‘It’s the right thing to do,’ she said with nonchalance. ‘Your conscience tells you to do it. I believe in heroism, and when you’re young, you want to do dangerous things.'”
